Speed Eating
For those of you who have made multiple attempts at weight loss, following the latest diet craze is hard to resist. After all, even though other diets have failed, you may think the latest new diet might finally be "the one that works". Remember The Cookie Diet, The Grapefruit Diet, The Cabbage Soup Diet or The HCG diet? One diet even recommended eating cotton balls before meals! These crazy ideas can be hazardous to your health. Do you know anyone who went on a crazy diet, lost weight and kept it off?
Be kind to yourself. Stay well away from the pharmaceutical shelves if you are seeking help to curb your appetite. Apart from the high costs of appetite suppressant drugs, their addictive nature and noted side effects make them a potentially dangerous choice. Given that in most cases their effects are short-lived and your weight rapidly rebounds when you stop taking them, they are not only expensive and dangerous, but really quite useless too.
Incorporating the following foods into your diet will help improve or prevent a lot of aliments as you age. This includes symptoms of menopause, osteoporosis and memory. These foods are tasty and can be easily prepared.
Tofu
Most soy products will alleviate the symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes. Tofu can be another source of protein in the diet. It helps lower cholesterol that may cause heart disease.

Just when it seems like many Americans have begun to embrace the Mediterranean diet for its health benefits, people in the Mediterranean countries are abandoning the traditional way of eating in favor of the "American" diet. Italy, Spain and Greece are now experiencing the obesity epidemic first hand, with Italy having the highest percentage of obese people in Europe today. In Italy and Greece, people today eat roughly four times more meat than they did 40-50 years ago.
The Cookie Diet... Really?
In the last few years, I've noticed that more people are beginning to embrace the idea that weight loss involves making healthy food choices and lifestyle changes. This comes as welcome news to myself and all of the other dietitians out there who have been trying to promote that very idea for years. But then, another fad diet emerges which starts to cast doubt, and those who have been trying to escape the dieting mentality once and for all begin to wonder if this new plan may just be the one that finally works…..enter the Cookie Diet!

* Eat a healthy, well balanced diet. This is the number one rule in controlling many diseases. When the body has the vitamins and nutrients it needs it is better able to fight off disease.
* Drink plenty of water. Drinking 8 glasses of water each day helps keep the cells hydrated and working their best.
Regular exercise is one great way to deal with the symptoms of stress. Combining a proper diet with that makes for a terrific, positive addition.
Nutrition studies are always difficult to interpret and any conclusions drawn should often be tentative.
Later ones often appear to contradict earlier ones. But overall the research suggests what is consistent with 'common sense': a balanced diet, with adequate amounts of fruit and vegetables, and some proteins is an aid to reducing stress.
More and more people, around the world, want to see themselves in great shape. Women are more conscious about their slim, smart and sexy looks. To look smart is a positive healthy sign and I encourage those who are taking weight loss programs and are in the process of losing their weight. But the ugly fact is that most people lose money instead of losing weight. Why? Because they are not sincere to their bodies.
