Cholesterol and the Pharmaceutical Industry's Biggest Secret

A commonly held myth is that high cholesterol, especially LDL cholesterol, is a major risk factor for heart disease (known as atherosclerosis). Thus, in a panicked attempt to prevent this pandemic killer millions of people are using cholesterol-lowering drugs. However, when we consider the scientific evidence it appears that the aforementioned myth is the antithesis.

1. With respect to women, researchers at the University San Diego School of Medicine show that no study has shown that cholesterol-lowering drugs lower overall mortality in women.

Push the Right Button

You can live a much more successful life than you think! Just push the right button and see how it opens the doors of success for you. Yes, its so simple and easy. Yet the great majority of people fail to achieve success. Why? Because they push the wrong buttons.

The switch board of life has both right and wrong buttons; the right buttons of success and the wrong buttons of failure. You need to differentiate between the two if you want to succeed in life. You should not blindly push any button. Be selective! Life is not a gamble!

Why should I lose weight?

Carrying around extra pounds can be detrimental to your health. If you are considering starting a healthy eating and exercise plan or you have fallen off your diet, this article may motivate you to get in gear.

What Extra Weight Can Do to Your Body

1. Carrying around excess body fat will decrease your energy level. Having just 10 lbs. of excess body fat is like carrying around a 10 lb. bag of lard.

The Top 10 Time Wasters

There are many time wasters that will really eat into your time if you allow them to. To free up your time you need to identify those time wasters, decide what you want to do about them and then take action. I've identified what I've seen to be the 10 most common time wasters. Just consider in what way these are relevant to you, rather than just assume they're not. This will open you up to seeing how you can make improvements in the use of your time. For each item, I suggest you ask yourself the question, "In what way does this waste my time?" For now, just see it as it is.

Your Mother Was Right: Good Posture Counts

Most of us don't connect poor posture with poor health. But think about it, when you're sick or in pain, how do you hold yourself? Head up, chest out, shoulders back? More likely your shoulders are slumped forward, back is rounded, tail bone is tucked between your legs like an injured animal. It's the body's natural response to pain and illness. The problem is that sustaining this defensive stance for any length of time may make it harder for your body to heal.

ZIP IT!!

If your first impulse is to speak up when you see or feel something is wrong in your workplace, zip it! Yes, just zip it! Why? Most folks' initial responses are impulsive, emotional, subjective and void of thought. But, you already knew that, didn't you?

Runners, Stretch After, Not Before, Exercise

Recent studies have shown that stretching before exercising does nothing to improve performance and may actually be injurious. I agree. As a chiropractor and yoga instructor, I have found that stretching muscles that have not warmed up sufficiently can cause micro-tears, inflammation, and ultimately pain and dysfunction.

However, stretching immediately after exercising, is, in my experience, the single best way to prevent injury and prolong your level of activity well past middle age.

10 Ways to Reclaim Your Self-Esteem

The way you feel about yourself impacts how and why you do everything in life. If you feel good about who you are, then what you do will be an outside reflection of your innermost thoughts and feelings. Contrary to popular belief, self-esteem is not something anyone or any accomplishment can give you. Just because people like you or you receive an award, does not mean that you will love and take care of yourself. Positive self-esteem comes from within and does not change because the scenery or circumstances change. To have esteem for something or someone is to regard highly or favorably.

Secondary School Learning

Not only does the internet provide research for everyday school work, students can also find useful material to help prepare them for college.

Some sites allow you to look up information for homework and provide help to complete special assignments or projects. Your child will find question and answer sessions and be able to chat with other students online.

How to Survive a Heart Attack when You are Alone

Please read this...It could save your own life!

Let's say it's 8.15 pm and you're driving back home (alone of course), after a hectic work on the job. You're really tired, and frustrated. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only five kilometers away from the nearest hospital. Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far. You may have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.
